Both Boal and Moreno have expanded the concept of catharsis from Aristotle. This paper will begin with a brief overview of the ongoing dispute over the interpretation of Aristotle's original statement. Then we will look at how catharsis is applied in psychotherapy. It's use is still controversial, and the debate whether to encourage or discourage catharsis continues.
The main part of this article will compare Boal's and Moreno's theories, techniques, and goals, and discuss the effects of catharsis on personal and social change. Both theorists talk of different forms of catharsis which will be expounded. The origin of Moreno's psychodrama, which is now mostly considered a form of group psychotherapy, is clearly theatrical. Interestingly, Boal recently started to use the term therapy in describing his theatrical work. We will indeed see that the two approaches have more in common than Boal himself likes to admit.
Article is devoted to a problem of use psychodrama in work with senior pupils. The variant of psychodrama, known as "opening of the cultural conserves" is in detail investigated. The detailed analysis of the shorthand report of session from warm-up to sharing is resulted. Dramatization of "Hamlet" in two groups is compared. Reflection of the spirit of the times in the spirit of the group is analyzed.
The author's therapeutic technique "The joint composition of a fairy tale", and also experience of its application in relation to a student's quota are presented. In joint creativity of a fairy tale there are two such as the conflicts: deep and superficial. The deep conflicts unite group around of the sanction of common problems. Its occur from archetypes of collective unconsciousness group and are expressed in the harmonious text of a fairy tale. The superficial conflicts occur between the authors. Its occur from complexes of the personal unconscious participants and result to disharmony of the text.
This publication is introduction to book Salomon Resnik "Mental space", published in Kiev in 2004. Other chapters of this book will be published in following numbers.
